Now, you can effortlessly craft patches that emulate the sound of a human voice or create a more distinct, funky bass tone. Simply select one of the 16 pre-programmed formants and assign it to any key, unlocking new possibilities for expressive sound design.

VCO’s IN THE SER-2020

Versatile Sound Design with Rich Modulation Options

The SER-2020 features two powerful VCOs (Voltage-Controlled Oscillators) and one sub-oscillator driven by VCO 1, delivering a wide range of sound design possibilities. Both VCOs offer selectable waveforms, including triangle, sawtooth, square, and pulse signals. By utilizing Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) on both VCO 1 and VCO 2, you can achieve a rich spectrum of tones.

The SER-2020’s LFO 1 and LFO 2 signals can be routed to the PWM section, introducing unique effects such as phase shifts and Doppler frequency shifts. Each VCO has its own LFO for PWM, allowing for chorus-like effects by controlling the pulse waves with different LFO speeds.

LFO 1: Dedicated Modulation and Clock Source

LFO 1 generates a triangle wave, specifically routed to the pulse width modulation (PWM) control input of VCO2. In addition to the triangle wave, LFO 1 also produces a square wave and a pulse wave. The square wave is available as a direct output on the patch panel, while the pulse wave is internally routed to the sample and hold generator as a clock source.

LFO 2: Versatile Modulation and One-Shot Function

LFO 2 offers greater versatility, suitable for modulating both the VCOs (Voltage-Controlled Oscillators) and the filters. Beyond standard modulation, LFO 2 can function as a one-shot generator, providing a signal similar to an Attack/Release function. This allows for dynamic and expressive sound shaping.

LFO 2’s rate control can be adjusted using the preset knob, and it can also be dynamically controlled with the Touch’n’Bend pad, offering real-time modulation adjustments.
