SER-2020 V2.0 FIRMWARE UPGRADE PROCEDURE

PLEASE FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED BELOW OTHERWISE THE DEVICE MAY FAIL

 

FOR PC

STEP 1:

Download MIDI-OX from http://www.midiox.com/ and install the program on your PC.
Connect your SER-2020 with an USB cable directly to a USB port on the PC and power up the synthesizer.
DO NOT USE USB HUBS OR OTHER USB DEVICE BETWEEN YOUR PC AND SYNTHESIZER.
Open the MIDI-OX program on your PC.

STEP 2:

In the MIDI-OX program window go to: Options > MIDI Devices…
Select the SER-2020 MIDI Input and the SER-2020 MIDI Output and click on OK.

STEP 3:

In the MIDI-OX program window go to: View > SysEx…

STEP 4:

In the SysEx View and Scratchpad window go to: Sysex > Configure…
Now set the configurations for the SysEx messages correct.
Select Delay After F7 and put the delay time to 250 Milliseconds.
Check if other settings are the same as the picture below and click on OK.

STEP 5:

In the SysEx View and Scratchpad window go to: Command Window > Load File…
Now go to the directory where you saved your Firmware *.sys files.
Select the SER-2020_V2_0_Into_Bootloader.syx file and click on Open.

STEP 6:

In the SysEx View and Scratchpad window go to: Command Window > Send Sysex
To send the file to your SER-2020, the synth now will startup into boot loader mode and the PWR LED starts flashing.
NOTE: Please send this command only once. If this message is sent multiple times by mistake please shut of the synth and start the procedure again from step 1.

STEP 7:

In the SysEx View and Scratchpad window go to: Command Window > Load File…
Now go to the directory where you saved your Firmware *.syx files.
Select the SER-2020_V2_0_Main_Firmware_Rx_x_x.syx file and click on Open.
In the SysEx View and Scratchpad go to: Command Window > Send Sysex
Now the Firmware file is send to your SER-2020, this will take a few minutes and the PWR LED flashes in different patterns.

STEP 8:

If the Sysex message is completed the synth will reboot and the firmware is updated.
Now the MIDI-OX program can be closed and the synth is ready.
